The REALM Project publishes a “Public Health Crisis Management Handbook for Archives, Libraries and Museums”

The KINGDOM Public Health Crisis Management Handbook for Archives, Libraries and Museums offers a set of guiding processes, resources and tools to help cultural heritage institutions plan for, navigate through and recover from a significant public health emergency. This resource can help archive, library or museum staff who are part of a crisis management or communications planning team.

This booklet, available online and as downloadable PDF documentcovers the following topics:

  • Crisis management—Provides starting points for crisis management and communications planning
  • Facilities and Operations—Provides considerations for determining decision-making processes around collections management, space layout, building systems, and security protocols
  • Crisis decision making and risk management—Examines risk assessment, information gathering and decision making in times of uncertainty
  • Resource networks—Sharing strategies for identifying partners and maintaining collaborative relationships, including a tool to visualize an institution’s potential partners during a crisis
  • Resources for more information—Provides all the resources used to develop the playbook, plus additional materials that can be used in developing a public health crisis management plan
