The Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization at the University of Saskatchewan has received a cash injection to help fight the pandemic.
Approximately $ 6 million is allocated to the organization by the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations.
The money will be used to help advance the development of vaccines that offer broad protection against variants of COVID-19 and other coronaviruses.
This will involve the identification of vaccine targets, vaccine formulation, manufacture and preclinical testing.
CEPL has a five-year plan of 3.5 billion dollars, which aims to reduce or even eliminate the future risk of pandemics and epidemics.
