#MayDay 2022 Tools for Emergency Planning – American Alliance of Museums

Continuing the tradition established by the Society of American Archivists (SAA) and Heritage Preservation (HP), the Foundation for Advancement in Conservation (FAIC) encourages libraries, museums, archives, historical societies and preservation organizations to reserve May to participate in Help. Cultural institutions can set aside some time during the month of May to take a few simple steps to prepare for disasters and emergencies affecting their collections. As part of this program, C2C Care presents a webinar highlighting tools that small and medium-sized institutions can use to create contingency plans for their organizations.

The AIC Emergency Committee will present on the updated AIC Wiki page for Emergency Preparedness and Response which has been redesigned to include an online resource library, available through the software platform Zotero. High-quality and up-to-date information, verified and approved by professionals, is now freely available on the Wiki page. You will learn how to navigate the Zotero library to find the information your organization needs.

Our colleagues from the Northeast Document Conservation Center (NEDCC) will be presenting on the updated dPlan, an online emergency preparedness tool that was launched this spring. dPlan is designed with the arts and culture sectors in mind, and it is usable and functional regardless of an organization’s size, scope or discipline. The presenter will provide instructions for the subscription-based dPlan tool as well as the free Pocket Response resource that accompanies it. You will learn how to use dPlan for risk assessment, organizing and assigning preparedness actions, accessing preparedness and response resources, and securing your business continuity critical documents.
