Video: Community Organizations Host 6th Annual Back-to-School Community Resource Fair

TULSA, Okla. – The Coalition of Hispanic Organizations has partnered with Tulsa Tech, Tulsa Public Schools, Tulsa Area United Way, Martin Regional Library and more than 40 other organizations to host the sixth annual Community Resource Fair of the Back to School.

The event took place at Tulsa Tech’s Lemley Memorial Campus near 31st and the Memorial and lasted from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Juan Miret of the Coalition of Hispanic Organizations said they were excited to host the event.

“We’re thrilled because it’s right before school starts and we’re just helping the family and the kids kick off the best school year ever,” he said.

“It’s amazing how many people attend this event year after year, and after the pandemic, it’s like a huge party fueled by hope, fueled by the awesomeness and kindness of so many supporters who make this possible,” he continued.

School-age children received free school supplies and other services, including:

  • Backpacks with school supplies
  • Dental exams
  • Haircuts
  • Information on reading, homework help and nutrition
  • Tulsa Public School Enrollment Assistance

Families and students were also able to receive:

  • Support for SNAP applications, SoonerCare, and Medicaid enrollment
  • COVID-19 vaccination
  • Free/discounted online registration
  • Vaccinations required for school

The event also allowed people to receive school supplies through a drive-thru system.
