MDA says construction of its global headquarters and robotics center in Brampton is “well underway.”

Formerly known as MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates, space technology company MDA announced plans in May for its $100 million hub and space robotics facility in Brampton, and the 200,000 square foot campus is beginning to take shape.

“This state-of-the-art facility will house Canadarm3 and more than 700 highly skilled employees at the forefront of the global space economy,” MDA said on social media this week.

The company is an international space mission partner and is headquartered in Brampton will include state-of-the-art laboratories, manufacturing, R&D and assembly, integration and testing facilities.

MDA’s Center of Excellence will also house a unique Space Robotics Mission Control Center, enabling critical in-orbit operations capabilities for commercial and government customers worldwide.

The company says the Brampton headquarters will be where it develops “a comprehensive suite of innovative commercial space robotics products” for private companies and governments, and will house its mission control center.

MDA expects the laboratory at the Center of Excellence for Space Robotics to be operational by the end of the year.
