Beat the heat with BeatO Food Lab’s Fresh Fruit Popsicles this week

The summer season makes us want to enjoy delicious and refreshing fruits, but people with diabetes should make sure they eat those that do not raise their sugar levels. What better than fresh fruit popsicles to beat the heat in a diabetes-friendly way? The most important factors in a healthy lifestyle are nutrition and diet, and since food is a key part of Indian culture, Republic Media Network has partnered with BeatO to bring you BeatO Food Lab.

This initiative, featuring MasterChef finalist Mirvaan Vinayak, aims to provide viewers with incredibly tasty yet healthy recipes so people with diabetes and restrictive dietary requirements never feel like they’re missing out. This week’s recipe for fresh, fruit-filled popsicles to satisfy all those summer sweet cravings can be found below.

Fresh fruit popsicles

  • 1 orange wedge
  • 1⁄2 cup pomegranate seeds
  • 1⁄2 cup berries (any Indian or exotic berries)
  • 1⁄2 teaspoon stevia
  • 1 lemon juice
  • black salt
  • Chia seeds
  • Water

  • Mix the stevia, black salt and lemon juice in the water.
  • Place fruits and berries in a popsicle mold.
  • Add the mixed water and freeze.
  • Serve chilled and enjoy!

Alternatives: You can replace the berries with low-cost fruit alternatives like kiwi fruit, jamun, or lemon wedges.

Advantages: These popsicles are high in antioxidants and protein. They are a good alternative to ice cream during the summer season.

Recommended portion: 1 popsicle stick.

To note: Using natural sweeteners like stevia when making your dessert can help satisfy your sugar cravings guilt-free. If you are in doubt after eating a particular food, be sure to do a quick sugar check. If you have any further doubts, contact your health coach or doctor.
